The film introduces six diverse American families who share their adoption stories. We meet a parent who worked inside an orphanage before ever planning to adopt, one who lived through China's Cultural Revolution, and another who has spent over 20 years researching adoption in China. All of these families help to put our impressions of Chinese adoption into a larger context, with a clearer understanding of this complex issue.
For all of us who have, or are considering adoption from China, Good Fortune is a unique and invaluable resource. Although made as a gift for these children, Good Fortune is intended for them when they reach a level of maturity to ask and cope with identity questions. It is for all of our families and relatives to help them understand and celebrate their adoption stories.
By sharing these personal family stories, Good Fortune offers thousands of adoptive families and their extended communities, tools for understanding their children's unique histories and their beginnings as cross cultural families in America.
